Rebercca လက်
2019
Rebecca Son was created to depict the imagery of severed limbs and decaying, injured skin. This work was presented at the exhibition Rebecca Son and The Cost at Gallery SP in 2019. As the first olfactive work, the base scent was designed by perfumer YoungJae Lee and received a final touch to complete the imagery of Rebecca Son. Presently, under 10ml of the original concentrate remains in preservation.
Mainly blended with sandalwood, patchouli, geranium, and beaver accord, this scent carries a powerful tone. It recreates the sensation of crushed petals and animalistic flesh, delivering a piercing, stingy intensity.
As this was my first foray into olfactive work, the exact blending process and proportions were not fully documented, making this scent a piece that is difficult to recreate.

Patchouli & TuberRose From Rebercca Son in the West
Patchouli, Tuber Rose Accord, Balsam, Oak Accord, YlangYlang, Cinnamon, Moss, …
R's place is in a small forest near the sea in the West. The place was built with agate columns and had no roof.R ordered the people to decorate the house with Patchouli and Tuberrose blooming in the backyard
Everyday as the sun beams through the holes illuminating,The decoration slowly melted down to the floor.R ate while spilling foods and drinks.She/he was loved a lot.
R no longer lives there.
The place was rusted and mossed by the sea breeze and the melted tuberose and patchouli permeated into the ground.

This scent captures a fragment of Rebercca Son’s life. The presence of Rebercca Son is scattered, expressed, and represented across various media.
2021
This is the first scent sculpted for the Sophie Etulips Silling Company. I blended it by imagining the fragrance lingering in the chairman’s office, combining notes of amber, whiskey, sandalwood, cedar, rose, and vanilla. For the online exhibition launching the company’s website, I invited people by scenting the physical mail invitations. Each invitation contained The Company's Sky Ribbon (2021, digital print on paper)—depicting a scent being applied to a glossy black cube box that resembled a cosmetic case—along with the password keys to enter the website.
The Pale Face of The Chairman of S-E-X-Co.com
2025
Sandalwood Accord, Rose Absolute, Patchouli, Vanille, Praline Accord, Amber, Bergamot, Balsam, Moss, Benzoin, ...
The Chairman, whose face is pale and dusted in white, used to spend time with the girls of vanilla in his room, always whiskey in hand. Now he has passed away. They beautified and placed him in a birch coffin. They smile through tears, feeling the wings of warmth surrounding their bodies, safe and grounded by the eternal love of him, a quiet surrender, and the comfort of resting entirely upon him.
*I reformulated the scent for blackwater for s-e-x-co.com to present it anew at the 2025 exhibition, The Edge of Belongings (Hessel Museum of Art, NY). Through this exhibition, I intended to hold the story of the company’s chairman, Sade Erosic Xphilia, who has passed away—capturing the time he spent with his "Vanilla Women" and the complex layers of their awe, grief, and love-hate towards him.
Ivory Polish (Bridal Bouquet): When Matter Volatilizes into Souls
2023
essential oils, ethanol, glass, fiber stick, aluminium, dimensions variable. (Collaboration: Maatter)
This fragrance was part of the work The Soul of Wedding: About Eternity (2023), presented at the exhibition Living in Joy at Art Sonje Center in 2023. It held the nuances of a bridal bouquet and nail polish—a vulgar white bouquet mixed with a cotton scent that feels like a certain comfort of life. When and how did those passions and clichés gather inside my heart and body like that?
Plastic Sponge Blue Roses of 20100813 now stand for the Sky
2023parfum, leaflet, dimensions variable.
This scent was created for the 2023 exhibition Ritual of Matter at the Leeum Museum of Art, to mourn a crushed "Blue Rose" I found on the street in 2010 and have kept ever since. I placed this fragrance within an exhibition space staged as a corporate reception—a space of ritual where mourning could coexist with the corporate environment.
The Incense for The Green
2023This olfactory work is part of Reality of Green (2023), presented at DMZ Open Festival – Checkpoint(2023). Inspired by the "heavenly" purity of the DMZ's landscape, I sought to capture the indefinable emotion stirred by this green expanse, which stood in stark contrast to its political reality. By crafting a synthetic incense scent, I staged the tourist observatory as a religious altar.
The Lemon
2024This is the "Lemon" scent itself, created to experiment with a platform of exchange. It stems from the theme of "Lemon LOEVVE", a thread connecting the 2024 MMCA Performing Arts Showcase to the Art Hub Copenhagen Gathering 2025. In this space, there is neither a real lemon nor Loewe, yet it is staged as if they both exist. The fragrance is a blend of lemon oils from California and Spain.
The Patchouli for blackwater and Japan
2024It carries the scent of patchouli—the same fragrance from the ribbons and leaflets of Blackwater at Noon, presented at the Meet Your Art Festival in Shinagawa, Tokyo, 2024. During my last day in Tokyo for a pre-meeting, I had lunch with Kaori, one of the team members. I noticed the scent of patchouli on her. She told me that her name, Kaori, means "fragrance." To me, Japan felt like a place with a very strong yin energy. Patchouli evokes the sensation of spending time alone, tucked away inside a closet or under a desk.
Blood Coffee for Beijing
2025In 2025, the work Blood Coffee was presented at the exhibition Setting The Tone of the Exhibition at the Inside-Out Art Museum in Beijing. I wanted to create a scent of blood—metallic yet sweet—by adding a metallic menthol to the aroma of coffee.
