박보마는 세계가 존재하지 않는다는 느낌을 빛, 물질, 그리고 다양한 감각의 은유를 통해 비추어 본다. 그녀는 분위기 — 인상, 무드, 순간, 감정 — 의 물질성과 힘, 그리고 그 반복을 탐구하며, 다양한 매체와 증식하는 가상의 페르소나들을 통해 이러한 요소들을 사건으로 재현하고 외화해왔다. 최근의 작업은 재현과 발화를 넘어, 무대화와 추상화를 통해 도식적이면서도 실제적인 유통이 어떻게 가능한지를 탐구하고 있다. Maatter를 통해 후각적 실천을 이어가고 있다. 최근 개인전으로는 가상의 회사 Sophie Etulips Xylang Co. 웹사이트 런칭(2021, s-e-x-co.com), Mercy, Boma Pak: Paintings and Matters 19xx2022(YPC SPACE, 2022), Ritual of Matter(리움미술관, 2023), Baby(프로젝트 스페이스 사루비아, 2023)가 있다. 단체전으로는 The Edge of Belongings(헤셀 미술관, 2025), MMCA 공연예술: 쇼케이스(2024/2025), Living in Joy!(아트선재센터, 2023), Shame on You(두산갤러리 뉴욕, 2017), Silky Navy Skin(인사미술공간, 2016) 등 2014년 이후 다수의 전시에 참여해왔다.

boma pak examines the sensation of the world's non-existence, reflecting it through the metaphor of light, material, and the senses. She investigates the materiality and power of ambience—impressions, moods, moments, feelings—and its repetition, representing and externalizing these elements as events through diverse media and proliferating invented personas. Recently, her work has moved beyond representation and speech, exploring how a schematic yet actual circulation might become possible through staging and abstraction. She exercises olfactive practice through Maatter. Her recent solo exhibitions include the launch of the website for the imaginary company Sophie Etulips Xylang Co. (2021, s-e-x-co.com), Mercy, Boma Pak: Paintings and Matters 19xx2022 (YPC SPACE, 2022), Ritual of Matter (Leeum Museum of Art, 2023), and Baby (Project Space Sarubia, 2023). Group exhibitions include The Edge of Belongings (Hessel Museum, 2025), MMCA Performing Arts: Showcase (2024/2025), Living in Joy! (Art Sonje Center, 2023), Shame on You (Doosan Gallery New York, 2017), Silky Navy Skin (Insa Art Space, 2016), and others since 2014.

boma’s work is synchronized with the question of how to capture light and moments. To realize this, she explores a synesthetic language, contemplating how to grant a temporary yet specific state to objects and existences that are easily overlooked or consumed outside of social systems. Among the various media she has engaged with in her artistic practice, she noted the unique qualities of scent, leading her to operate ‘maatter’ since 2023—a platform through which she composes and provides fragrances.

pak works across various media and identities to create "fake" and to preserve disappearing moments; in this sense, her work centers on what we call Gesture, Filter and Decoration.

I see sad as things are beautiful as they disappear, fade away, are consumed, and marginalized. And I feel an indebtedness when I take my space.
