timebook is one of the pieces I love most among my works. It brings to mind the piece, Star and Heart around that time. I remember a comment from Ed, a French exchange student at the time — when I showed him Star and Heart as a new work, he said my work was really boring. He was right. I wanted to stretch out something insignificant, even trivial, for a long time, and because of that, I think it was only fitting that he felt that way. timebook is a small, book-shaped object that counts time while, at the same time, holding it in place.

timebook은 제가 가장 좋아하는 작업 중 하나입니다. 이맘때쯤 하면 〈별과 하트〉 작업이 떠오릅니다. 당시 프랑스에서 교환학생으로 온 에드의 코멘트가 기억나는데, 〈별과 하트〉를 새로운 작업이라며 보여주었을 때 그는 제 작업이 정말 지루하다(boring)고 했습니다. 맞는 말이었습니다. 저는 별것 아닌 것, 나아가 하찮은 것을 길게 늘리고 싶었고, 여전히 그렇기 때문에 그가 그렇게 느낀 것도 마땅했다고 생각합니다. 타임북은 시간을 세는 동시에 시간을 붙잡는, 작은 책 모양의 오브제입니다.
