Rebercca လက်

Hand is the body's foremost instrument — the part most used, and most directly in contact, when a person handles matter. Rebercca Son began as the imagining of a person without hands. That was a time when I wanted to distance myself from every practice of fldjf studio, and the imagining likely originated in the very dynamic through which I felt matter difficult to handle. At first he was a long-bodied man with a masculine lean; but within the imagining, he gradually bulked up, his eyes turned blue, and his skin turned very black.

Rebercca လက် was born and raised in Saint Petersburg in Russia. He was a rhythmic gymnast. He lost his both hands and arms during the career. After the career, He finished the perfumery course The Most Innocent (Το πιο αθώο) at the School of Perfumery Athens (Σχολείο Αρωματοποιίας Αθηνών) in Greece. He lives and works in Tokyo, and often be a guard at the building of Sophie Etulips Xylang Co., in Seoul.

R.. is a perfume label founded by Rebercca Son. R.. strives to push boundaries, creating exquisitely crafted fragrances that are both innovative and timeless. Five years after its creation, the label continues to use the finest raw materials to shape unique, personal journeys. It is grounded in the concept of the bodiless — the false sacrifice.

ELUSIVE. FRAGILE. HEADY.

ylang-ylang Nosy-Bé, muguet, sandalwood, deep Atlantic water, cedrat, white cedarwood essential oil, oakmoss, fleurs de lys, fossilized amber. False is here for the instant, and for the eternal. Its name softens the association with a closed regular hexahedron of the chosen. Dew drops look as if they might quiver at the nearby buzzing of a bee; admired, yet not-being. (2017)

The various manifestations of Rebercca Son began in 2019 with the exhibition Rebercca Son and The Cost at Gallery SP. Rebercca Son and The Cost presented handmade objects of varying scale — secondary plaster sculpture-hangers, artificial flowers, and others — alongside a fragrance built on the motif of Rebercca Son's severed arm and its decaying skin. The works, styled and dressed up like commodities, unfolded into a deep, saturated blue mood: staged like a blue horror-cult film, materials that never attained the status of furniture, ribbons scattered distractedly, pollen and glitter strewn about as if splattered like blood.

Afterward, the figure of Rebercca Son was reproduced in graphite drawings and introduced across various exhibitions, and Rebercca Son also branched into the role of Receptionist R. In 2022, at the exhibition Mycelia Core, Rebercca Son, Paul & Steve, held in Suchi, the life of Rebercca Son was rendered scene by scene in mural drawings.

사람의 손은 인간이 물질을 다룰 때 가장 많이, 그리고 가장 직접적으로 사용하는 신체입니다. 레버카 손은 손이 없는 사람을 상상하는 데서 출발했습니다. 당시 fldjf studio의 모든 실천으로부터 거리를 두고 싶었던 시기였고, 그 상상은 아마도 제가 물질을 다루는 데 어려움을 느꼈던 그 역학에서 비롯되었을 것입니다. 처음에 그는 기다란 몸을 가진 남성향의 남성이었는데, 상상 속에서 점차 벌크업을 하고, 눈은 파랗게, 피부는 아주 검게 변해갔습니다.

레버카 손(Rebercca လက်)은 러시아 상트페테르부르크에서 태어나고 자랐습니다. 리듬체조 선수였던 그는 커리어 도중 두 손과 팔을 모두 잃었습니다. 은퇴 후 그리스 아테네 조향 학교(Σχολείο Αρωματοποιίας Αθηνών)에서 조향 코스 '가장 순수한 것(Το πιο αθώο)'을 수료했습니다. 현재 도쿄에 거주하며 작업하고, 서울의 소피 에튤립스 실랑(Sophie Etulips Xylang Co.) 빌딩에서 종종 경비원으로 일합니다.



R..
R..은 레버카 손(Rebercca Son)이 설립한 향수 레이블입니다. 경계를 넓히며 혁신적이면서도 시대를 초월하는, 정교하게 만들어진 향수를 선보이고자 합니다. 창립 5년이 지난 지금도 가장 정선된 원료를 사용해 독창적이고 개인적인 여정을 이어가고 있으며, 이는 신체 없는 존재, 즉 가짜 희생물이라는 개념에 기반을 둡니다.

규정할 수 없는. 취약한. 아찔한.

일랑일랑 노시베, 뮤게(은방울꽃), 샌달우드, 깊은 대서양의 물, 세드라, 화이트 시더우드 에센셜 오일, 오크모스, 플뢰르 드 리스, 화석화된 앰버. 가짜는 찰나를 위해, 그리고 영원을 위해 이곳에 존재합니다. 이 이름은 선택된 자들의 닫힌 정육면체와의 연상을 완화해줍니다. 이슬방울은 근처에서 윙윙거리는 벌 소리에 금방이라도 떨릴 듯합니다. 찬탄받되, 존재하지 않는 것.(2017)




2019년 갤러리 SP에서 레버카 손과 그의 비용(費用) 전시가 열리며 레버카 손의 다양한 현현이 시작되었습니다. 《레버카 손과 그의 비용》에는 손으로 만든 다양한 스케일의 오브제 — 부차적인 석고 조각-행어, 모조 꽃 등 — 와, 레버카 손의 잘린 팔과 그 썩은 피부를 모티프로 한 향이 함께 선보여졌습니다. 상품처럼 치장된 작업들, 파란빛의 호러-컬트 영화 같은 연출, 가구의 지위를 얻지 못한 물질들, 산만하게 흩어진 리본과 꽃가루와 반짝이 가루가 피 튀기듯 흐트러진 진한 청색의 무드로 이어졌습니다.

이후 레버카 손의 형상은 흑연 드로잉으로 재현되었고, 다양한 전시에서 소개되었으며 레버카 손은 또한 리셉셔니스트 R이라는 역할로 분화되기도 하였습니다. 2022년 수치에서 열린 전시 《마이셀리아 코어, 레버카 손, 폴 앤 스티브》에서 레버카 손의 일생이 장면 장면 벽화 드로잉으로 그려졌습니다.
